2019 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and E-waste Amnesty Day (November 2, 2019)

The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency is looking for all old Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and electronic items (e-waste) that Santa Fe City & County Residents no longer want! The Agency will take this material off your hands for FREE and dispose of it properly on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 from 9am-1pm at the Buckman Road Recycling & Transfer Station (BuRRT, 2600 Buckman Road). This material will NOT be accepted at the Santa Fe County Convenience Centers. This is part of the Agency’s Amnesty Day program. NO COMMERCIAL WASTE.

 What is HHW?

HHW consists of items which should not be thrown into the regular trash because they could pose an environmental risk. Examples of HHW are listed below:

  • Motor Oil & Antifreeze
  • Oil Paints, Stains, Varnishes, Lacquers & Th inners
  • Pesticides & Herbicides
  • Cleaning Products
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Rechargable Batteries
  • Flourescent Light Bulbs

 5-Gallon or SMALLER Containers only, No 55-Gallon Drums!

 NO COMMERCIAL WASTE FROM BUSINESSES ACCEPTED!

 What is E-Waste?

E-waste consists of electronic items, typically that contain a circuit board, which should not be thrown into the regular trash. Most e-waste contains toxic items such as lead, mercury and cadmium, all of which are toxic to humans and animals.

Examples of e-waste are listed below:

  • Computers, Keyboards, Mice, etc.
  • Monitors
  • Televisions
  • Cell Phones
  • Gaming Systems
